The Province’s Move Step 3
On Wednesday, the Provincial Government announced the move to Step 3 of the BC Restart Plan with explanation of what this means for worshipping communities. As of July 1st, there are no longer any restrictions for worship services.
Yesterday, the COVID-19 Task Group met to discuss the implications of all of this for Ladner United Church. We want to still be cautious and safe in how we interact together, especially since many across the Province have not had second doses yet. However, we also don’t want to act from a place of fear either. So with much consideration and discussion and with approval from the Leadership Council, the following guidelines will be effective as of now at LUC:
• General (for all groups and individuals in the building):
o Hand sanitize upon entry
o Stay home if you are feeling sick
o Masks and physical distancing are recommended (please be mindful of your own comfort level and the comfort levels of others with this. Be respectful of others’ space and what they may need to feel safe right now)
o Cleaning protocols will remain as is: spray high touch surfaces, use the fogger after groups have met.
o The kitchen will remain closed for the time-being, to be re-evaluated over the next couple of months. You can bring your own beverages and snacks.
o As per the Government recommendations, we encourage those who are not fully vaccinated to wear masks in the building.
• Midweek Worship:
o Masks and physical distancing are recommended (see above)
o Hand sanitizer used upon entry
o Singing is allowed (preferably with a mask on)
o No pre-registration or sign-in
o No capacity restrictions
o After worship, you can gather outside to chat. We will refrain from gathering inside.
• Rental Groups:
o Will be considered on a case by case basis (aka groups other than AA/Al-Anon/Overeaters)
Midweek Worship will resume this coming Thursday, July 8th. All are welcome to join us for a time of worship through singing, prayer, and reading scripture! Worship will begin at 3pm. Come and “chill with God” in our beautiful and air conditioned sanctuary 😉
We will continue with Zoom services on Sunday mornings for the next few weeks to assess how the BC Restart Plan is going before Leadership Council will make a decision on when in-person Sunday worship will begin.
