We thank everyone for their patience as the LUC COVID-19 Task Force reviewed the new PHO orders announced last week and the new recommendations from the Pacific Mountain Regional Council of the United Church. Revisions to LUC’s safety guidelines have been updated and are as follows:
Masks and Physical Distancing: Moving forward, masks and physical distancing will remain mandatory at LUC for Worship services. However, masks will be optional but strongly encouraged for small church groups and user groups when gathering in their designated spaces. When leaving these designated spaces, we ask that everyone wear a mask and maintain physical distancing in the common areas. For example, if you are part of a group meeting in the Celebration Center who have chosen not to wear masks, masks will be required when you leave the Celebration Centre to visit the washroom or any other part of the church out of respect for staff and other people in the building. We trust that everyone will remain respectful of other people’s decisions and comfort levels as always.
Capacity Limits: There will be no capacity limits, however physical distancing will be encouraged as much as possible.
Coffee Hours/Receptions: Coffee Hours will be held a few times a month after worship and every Thursday from 2pm – 4pm. Please call the office for more details or check our social media for upcoming Coffee Hour dates. We will be opening up the church for receptions once again as well (i.e. for things like funeral receptions, wedding receptions, etc.). Food and beverage will be allowed to be served while observing certain safety guidelines. All food and beverages will be consumed while sitting at tables, however masks will be worn when not seated, and, if weather allows, doors will be left open to improve air circulation.
Wellness Checks: As always, we ask that anyone not feeling well in any way refrain from entering the building. Instead, take care to stay home and ensure you are healthy before visiting the church.
We are grateful to be opening our spaces in a greater capacity and invite anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to the office or any member of the COVID-19 Task Group and we will be happy to assist you..
